New Patient Information

Q: What will happen on my first visit?

A: 1). We will take a thorough history of your problem and general health as well as past medical history.
2). We will perform a thorough physical examination, recording and documenting our findings.
3). We will discuss our treatment recommendations and provide you with an explanation of your condition. Treatment options will also be discussed.
4). If required, x-rays will be taken at our office.
5). Treatment will be provided with follow-up home care instructions.

Please allow approximately one to one and a half hours for your first appointment.

Q: Do I need x-rays?

A: Maybe. We always strive to provide the best care that is appropriate, cost effective and the least invasive. Without taking a thorough history and doing an examination, it is very difficult to say if x-rays will be required. We will, of course, discuss treatment recommendations and options with you. If you've had x-rays previously taken, please bring them with you on your initial visit. You may call our office and they will be happy to assist you in obtaining those films in advance. This will greatly expedite your treatment.

Q: Does it hurt?

A: No. Chiropractic manipulation may take many forms. Dr. Milam specializes in and is certified in many techniques. We will discuss our treatment recommendations with you and respect your comfort level and wishes at all times. You do not have to be "popped" to receive excellent care.

Q: If I have been injured, do I need to see my medical doctor first?

A: No. In some health insurance plans, there may be some requirement for primary care referral. If you complaint is related to a healthcare problem, then please call our office and we will facilitate any necessary referrals or paperwork required for your visit to our office. However, if your injury occurred on-the-job or as a result of a motor vehicle accident, you do not require referral from a medical provider to make an appointment in our office.

As a courtesy to our patients and to expedite your initial visit, we can arrange to have you complete your paperwork prior to your visit. Simply contact our office and we will make the appropriate arrangements.
